In brief

The Relationships Project is on the lookout for someone to join our tiny core team to help shape and deliver our work, initially over 2 days a week for a 12 month period.

We’re at an exciting transitional moment in our work, with our Lottery funding coming to an end and ambitious plans for the next 5 years. We’ve secured some core funding for the next couple of years, over which time we plan to continue our existing work and make progress in developing the Relationships Academy.

We’re looking for someone who can contribute to the leadership of our work, and who is equally prepared to roll their sleeves up to make it happen. And we’d be delighted if you brought perspectives, experiences, networks and views which are not currently represented in the core team.

A week in the Relationships Project team might involve:

  • Hosting an online event to bring together relationship-centred practitioners from across the field to share their experience, learning and support
  • Presenting our work or facilitating a workshop at an external event
  • Updating the website, writing a newsletter, and listening, learning and sharing via social media
  • Meeting fellow relationship-centred practitioners, learning about their work and the challenges that they face, and making helpful connections
  • Checking in with others helping to build the field of relationship-centred practitioners and exploring ways in which we could work together
  • Writing, editing or stewarding a report or resource, working in collaboration with the brilliant people who feed into our work
  • Seeding, nurturing and servicing a community of practice, such as the Relational Councils Network
  • Managing budgets and writing funding proposals or reports

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A real passion and conviction about the importance of putting relationships first in our communities, organisations and services, and the desire and ability to convince others of the need to work relationally
  • Ideally firsthand experience of working relationally, perhaps in health, social care, education, youth work, or similar. You’ll draw on this experience and the insight its unlocked about what helps and hinders relationship-centred practice to help guide our work and support others on their journeys as relationship-centred practitioners
  • Great interpersonal skills and a love of connecting, facilitating, hosting and convening
  • The ability to stay on top of multiple strands of work, and comfortable working collaboratively amongst lots of moving parts. The way that we approach our work is relational and emergent – we’re continuously learning about what’s needed to help spread and embed relationship-centred practice, and adapt our work based on what we learn
  • A love of presenting ideas to different audiences in talks, presentations, blogs, reports and more, adapting your communication style as needed and listening deeply and openly to how those ideas are received and responded to. We’d love you to help take our work into new spaces and new audiences
  • The experience and desire to work in a small team, remotely, where we work together to shape and deliver the work, secure funding, review progress and navigate challenges that arise

We can offer up to £2,000 per calendar month and are open to which days you work and whether you’d like to be salaried or freelance. We work remotely with regular online check-ins and occasional time together in person.

Submit your interest

If you’re interested, please send a short (no more than 1 side of A4) cover letter to immy@relationshipsproject.org by 10th June, sharing what excites you about this role, your relevant experience, and what you feel you’ll bring to the team, and to the work more broadly.

We’ll then be in touch to let you know whether we’d like to have a conversation where we can get to know each other better. We’ll aim to have these in early July.

Thank you for your interest, we look forward to hopefully hearing from you.
